Ripe
In this next piece, I took this concept of an ordinary still life and pushed it into a design where I found the similarities between all of these features (they are all fruits) so that they could create a cohesive display. I then carried over the dots to represent the way ripeness reveals itself in each of them.
Lantern Mandala
In these pieces, I photographed the Chinese Lantern Festival and decided to push the natural beauty even further by turning the photographs into mandalas, which present themselves almost as a stained glass window.
Mapping Brain Waves
This piece focuses on the concept of mapping. I wanted to take something that one cannot visibly see and turn it into an art. I mapped brain waves and wanted to show the differences in the brains reactions to different events and then working with color theory to provide a color palette to those reactions.
Toxic Beauty
These pieces were created from taking google earth images of chemical waste and plants. I wanted to represent how we often don’t see the destruction and harm that we are creating, because it disguises itself as something beautiful.
Transpecies Skin
This is an interactive installation. People put on the white lab coat and stand in front of the projection, which places different skins of endangered species onto the individual. This represents how the skin may change but the person inside does not. It shows are we are killing animals that feel and think just as we do. This can translate into just the concept of simply how differing appearances should not determine how we feel and act towards one another.
